MACHINE FEATURES:
HEADSTOCK:
Rugged headstock design provides maximum efficiency in all turning
and finishing operations. The short and rigidly supported spindle
is made from Chromium-Nickel-Molybdenum alloy steel, case hardened
and fully ground. The spindle turns in preloaded high precision
TIMKEN taper roller bearings. All spindle assemblies are high speed
dynamically balanced on SCHENK balancing machines. Spindle speeds
are in geometric progression and are easily selected. Three V belt
drive assures positive and smooth power transmission. All headstock
gears are case hardened and REISHAUER ground with splined shafts
that turn in antifriction bearings. The headstock lubrication system
consists of an automatic pump and oil bath. All test conditions and
accuracy checks are according to the ISO norm 1708 1979(E).

BED WAYS:
Mascote's compact one-piece bed is extremely rigid and heavily ribbed
to eliminate torsional twisting and vibrations. All V ways and flat
ways of the bed are induction hardened to a minimum of 480 BRINELL
(50-RC) or higher, and precision ground. Bed ways are made of
special grey iron alloy, and aged at the NARDINI foundry to relieve
internal stress and tension. Autocollimated bedways permit true
alignment and parallelism throughout the life of the lathe.

CARRIAGE:
Easy to read, large dials have been designed to provide ease of
operation. "D-tenth" control lever for safety when setting automatic
feeds. Single lever control provides rapid engagement of leadscrew,
cross feed and longitudinal movement. Automatic cross and longitu-
dinal feed "kickout" increases productivity. The precision saddle
is guided by a long V way bearing surface for maximum accuracy.
The extra wide carriage is precisely fitted to the saddle dovetail
base adding strength and eliminating torsional twist. Cross feed
adjustment eliminates backlash. Fully adjustable tapered gibs on
cross slide and top slide are easily adjustable to compensate for
wear. The apron is automatically lubricated. T-slots on cross
slide permit quick, rigid mounting of a rear tool post or other
accessories.

UNIVERSAL GEAR BOX:
The universal gearbox is fully enclosed and provides a comprehen-
sive range of metric and inch feeds and threads. All gears are
made of 8620 alloy steel, and are hardened and ground. The spline
shaft is case hardened and turns in antifriction bearings. The
automatic lubrication system creates cascade flow of oil. An
adjustable safety overload feature disengages the feed in the
event of excessive load or misuse of the lathe, protecting the
gearbox from damage.

TAILSTOCK:
Extra strong and wing-ribbed inside with quill built from SAE
8620 alloy steel, hardened and ground, moving by functional
handle wheel for approach and return with minimum operator effort.
Tailstock casting can be displaced crosswise over base for
turning tapers.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPPMENT:
Mascote's electricalcal is comprised of the higheshest quality compo-
nents sourced in the U.S. Klockner, Siemenmens and Telecmanique
electrical components offerer high and low voltage protection with
a 110 volt magnetic starter. The electrical panel is designed
for easy access and is fully protected from dust and contamination.
The electrical equipment is protected with easy-to-read circuit
breakers--no special or expensive fuses.
